It is used for improving fatigue strength, anti-stress corrosion and crackability  by giving compressive remaining stress on the surface with creating plastic deformation by shooting Peening Shot on the surface of products such as Gear, Springs etc. that are easy to get cracks by repetitive loads and corrosive stress.
